Why 3D Office Furniture + Design?

Thirty years ago Marc Schwartzberg knew he loved design. He had just graduated from high school and had started to work at Dallek Office Furniture, a family business started by his grandparents in the 1920’s. A freshman at Queens College, Marc signed up for night classes at Parsons School of Design while working three days a week at Dallek.

An icon of the office furniture and office design industries, Dallek exposed Marc to the latest styles and the most innovative designs from around the world.

In 2010, Dallek saw the end of its near century-long run, and Marc and his brother Neil launched D2 Office Furniture. A year and a half later, Marc leapt at the opportunity and challenge to start his own business — while carrying on the family name and reputation. 3D Office Furniture + Designopened its doors in late summer of 2011. Just like Marc, 3D is steeped in old school values, style, and cutting edge creativity.

Marc plans on leading the industry in outstanding office design delivered with up-close and personal customer service, a keen eye and the patience, persistence, and meticulous organization of an endurance athlete. Success, whether it’s a long-distance race, or a finished office space depends on training, planning, scheduling, and taking every detail into account. With over a decade of experience in marathons and triathlons, and over a quarter-of-a-century of office design experience, Marc applies his experience and skills to the workplace each and every day.

Bike to the Office Blog is Born

Marc met Jill in the spring of 2007 and a new partnership ensued. Jill and Marc share a love of cities, great architecture, beauty, getting things done, and living life with passion and drive. Jill — a founding columnist at the interior design blog, ApartmentTherapy.com — is steeped in the design world as well.

Biking quickly became their preferred way to explore the city. And soon enough, it became Marc’s primary form of transportation for visiting clients. Suit, cufflinks, tape measure, laptop, iPad, architectural drawings, and Marc — biking to the office. A business is born. And a blog to go with it.

Marc and Jill intend to use this blog as a place to explore dynamic design issues. Whether it be a new museum exhibit, great architecture from across the globe or around the corner, a captivating gallery opening, or a unique interior. We will use this blog, as well, to feature new products and to keep you up to date on the news at 3D. We’d love to hear from you so please feel free to give us your feedback in the comments section.
