OFH Celebrates Archtober 2018

Archtober, New York City’s Architecture and Design Month is finally here! Whether you are an architect or designer, or simply an enthusiast, from October 1st to the 31st, you can attend exciting tours, lectures, films, exhibitions and architecture-related activities in the NYC-area. Archtober is currently in its eighth year and is organized the Center of Architecture in collaboration with over 60 partners and sponsors. At OFH we compiled a list of interesting events that can help you make the most out of this year’s month-long celebration of architecture and design. 


Toward a Livable City: New York and the Municipal Art Society (1893-Present)
October 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018

At the Center for Architecture, learn about the Municipal Art Society’s profound impact on NYC in this exhibition that follows the organization’s accomplishments since its founding in 1893.

Architecture & Design Film Festival
October 16, 2018 - October 21, 2018

Film buffs and architectural enthusiasts alike can pay a visit to Cinépolis Chelsea or the SVA Theatre to see the Architecture & Design Film Festival. Opening night will feature the world premiere of Basia and Leonard Myszynski’s film Leaning Out, a 59-minute documentary about Leslie E. Robertson, the lead structural engineer behind the original World Trade Center towers. See the complete schedule here.

Archtober Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Bard Graduate Center, Architexx, AIA’s Women in Architecture and Diversity and Inclusion Committees, and Wikimedia NYC, are hosting a Wiki Edit-a-thon to help foster inclusivity and diversity within the field of architecture. This edit-a-thon is free and open to the public, and will include beginner Wikipedia tutorials, ongoing editing support, reference materials, and refreshments.
